Letter of recommendation from John Ribovich, Artistic Director, Calaveras Repertory Theatre
I worked with Len on Elbert Hubbard's Scrapbook, a vaudeville play about a seminal figure in the American Arts and Crafts movement. The play was fast-paced and required each actor to play several roles, making quick changes in character, voice and movement.
Len distinguishes himself by his level of preparation and commitment. He takes direction wonderfully, and, like any good actor, gives the role his own interpretation. Len also shows himself to be extremely generous to his fellow actors, helping in any way he can to ensure the success of the show.
I am impressed not only by Len's talent, but also by his potential as an actor. His vocal and physical gifts are augmented by the kind of focus and discipline essential to the professional actor.
I heartily recommend Len Shaffer... He has already achieved a good deal as an actor, and his continued professional growth will only serve to benefit the theatre community.
From the East Bay Voice
Not Quite Opera's production of Musical Genius... has an immensely talented cast, laden with great energy and enthusiasm... The two new lovers are.. played with great zeal by Len Shaffer as John Crumbe and Gina Latimerlo as the lovely singer, Violet Rose. The chemistry between them is only matched by the chemistry among the cast as an ensemble. This chemistry makes for great fun. [Full Review]
